The Corporation of London’s magazine Cityview reports on 1 Undershaft, the latest EC3 Tower to receive planning permission.
Singaporean developer Aroland is intending to construct Western Europe’s second tallest building (topping out at over 1,000 ft ) after The Shard. The Tower will offer 1.4m sq ft of offices (likely to house up to 10,000 office staff ) plus 200,000 sq ft of retail,1,600 bicycle spaces and will include a public viewing gallery (as does the Walkie Talkie) and a new public square.
The proposals will create the latest new generation building. We expect it will complement the remarkable cluster of exceptional buildings in EC3 including existing properties such as The Gherkin and The Cheesegrater. The likes of Brookfield’s 400,000 sq ft 1 Leadenhall Street, EC3 (a Newton Perkins letting instruction) are set to add further lustre to the micro-location.
